  1. Enter the Date the batch was run.
  2. Enter the Analyst or Check range if changed since the last batch.
  3. Paste the OM data in the first Lab #.
  4. Save batch.
    1. If nothing is flagged, check all samples and Save data.
    2. If the Check is flagged, Email Dr. Lessl and wait for approval.
    3. If samples are flagged but the Check is not, save all samples, and Email Dr. Lessl for approval.
(You can email yourself to add additional information to the approval request.)
  • OM Check outside range
  • OM>6% for Homeowner crops
  • OM>4% for Farmer or Unknown crops
  • OM not requested
  • Sample mismatch
  • The program supports one batch per day only. See Rick if multiple batches were run in a day.
  • High OM often corresponds with high LBC.
  • If a sample has been rerun, you'll see the Relative Percent Difference in the RPD column.
  • Soil Organic Matter: Loss on Ignition Method.
  1. Open Outstanding Samples.
    Copy all to the clipboard: Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C
    Close the program.
  2. Open Organic Matter.
  3. Click Start.
    This should open a blank Excel file.
  4. Paste the clipboard data: Ctrl+V
  5. Save the Excel file as M:\yyyymmddNN
    (where NN are your initials).
  6. Place the cursor in cell C2.
  7. Weigh the checks and samples:
    • Press Print on the meter to add each weight into the spreadsheet.
    • Save the spreadsheet after each weighing: Ctrl+S.
  8. Close Excel.
  9. Press Stop, then Exit.
  10. Turn paperwork into Data Management Coordinator.
