Instructions (assuming FY18)

  1. Open https://aesl.ces.uga.edu/feed/readnir2016.htm, and enter lab numbers.
  2. If all results are good, click Save all. Otherwise, click Save for individual samples.
  3. Run Wet Chemistry for orange parameters. (They're summarized in the Within Range column.)
  4. Open the database.
  5. If Wet Chemistry was run, open NIR, then NIR18. Locate the lab number, and enter data in one of these fields: WCProtein, WCAsh, WCADF, WCNDF, WCLignin.
  6. Open NIR, then open the proper equation (NIRLegume, NIRGrass, NIRCS).
  7. Locate the lab number, and highlight everything between DM and a.RFQ. Copy/paste to NIRDM.
  8. Proof the reports in FE1718.

NIRS Laboratory Weekly QA Reporting Protocol

The following NFTA PT samples will be analyzed each week as of . NOTE: All numbers in the Table below are "As-sampled Basis." As the new NFTA PT samples with known RMA and HSD values will be available in any sample type, this protocol will be revised by replacing the older PT sample(s) with the new ones, and the revised protocol will be served to all concerned analysts and the database manager.

Notes:

  1. As-sampled Basis CP, ADF, or NDF= ("Dry-matter Basis" CP, ADF, or NDF) X (%DM/100)
  2. The above listed QC samples must be analyzed as per schedule even in the absence of any routine sample under that sample type. At least one QC sample should match with the type of the routine samples analyzed each day.
  3. "mmdd"=month and date of testing; like, for testing on May/07/2021, type "0507" in place of "mmdd. RMA=Reference Method Average, HSD= Horwitz Standard Deviation; DM result is evaluated by "mHSD", mHSD=0.381+0.0159RMA.

Assigning Grades:

Grading Criteria Grade Grade Point
Result within RMA ±1HSD/1mHSD (for DM) A 4
Result outside RMA ±1HSD/1mHSD (for DM) but within RMA ±2HSD/2mHSD (for DM) B 3
Result outside RMA ±2HSD/2mHSD (for DM) but within RMA ±3HSD/3mHSD (for DM) C 2
Result outside RMA ±3HSD/3mHSD (for DM) but within RMA ±4HSD/4mHSD (for DM) D 1
Result outside RMA ±4HSD/4mHSD (for DM) F 1
