Lime Calculator
R. Hitchcock and J. Lessl
The University of Georgia Lime Calculator was developed to assist users whose liming needs require adjustment from the standard soil test recommendation due to a change in units, availability of lime products, and/or a difference in land size. The calculator converts amount of lime recommended and allows users to compare costs of different lime sources.
Note that the UGA soil report lime recommendations assumes the use of Ag Lime with an effective neutralization value (ENV) of 67%.
You can use it to:
- Calculate the amount of a liming material needed to adjust soil pH with a different lime source.
- Select recommendations in tons per acre that are typical of agronomic crop recommendations or in pounds per 1000 square feet that are typical of homeowners reports.
- Calculate the area of a garden or lawn given the dimensions and shape of the area to be limed.
- Calculate and compare the costs of different liming courses.

| Lime CCE or ENV (%) | % | What's this? CCE stands for calcium carbonate equivalent and is expressed as how much acid-neutralizing value a liming material has relative to pure calcium carbonate. ENV stands for "effective neutralization value" and considers the CCE and the particle size of the lime product. | |
