ICP METHOD



EQUIPMENT

  1. Thermo Jarrell-Ash Model 61E ICP

  2. Thermo Jarrell-Ash Autosampler 300

  3. 48 position rectangular racks

  4. Hamilton Digital Diluter

  5. 150 ml. glass beakers

  6. Watch glasses

  7. Hot Plate



REAGENT

  1. Hydrochloric Acid    HCl



PROCEDURE

  1. Weigh 1 g sample into a 150 ml. beaker.

  2. Add 2-3 ml. deionized water in order to wet the sample.

  3. Add 30 ml. concentrated hydrochloric acid.

  4. Cover with a watch glass.

  5. Place on a hot plate and heat until boiling.

  6. Allow to cool and transfer into a 1 liter volumetric flask.

  7. Dilute to volume with deionized water and mix well.

  8. Do an additional 1 to 10 dilution using the Hamilton digital diluter.

  9. Analyze the 1 to 10 dilution on the ICP using the WATER matrix.
